<p>Read The Promise this week and was again moved by Potok&#8217;s writing. I read The Chosen when I was younger and then devoured My Name is Asher Lev and The Gift of Asher Lev during college. Knowing and experiencing life in the Christian community over the past number of years, I think part of me simpy enjoys such a vivid look into a another faith tradition (Judaim, Hasidic Judaism) and finds comfort and company hearing similar situations described. Anyone else read The Promise or some of Potok&#8217;s other stuff?
