Who at Pearl likes to camp?

Our family goes camping quite a bit and would love to have other people join us throughout the year. Do you like to camp too? You don’t even need your own equipment. We have plenty of sleeping bags, tents, chairs, etc… What about just joining us for a day at the lake? We’d like that too!

WHERE: Hoover Group Camp on Detroit Lake (Detroit, OR)

This is THE CAMPING EVENT OF THE SUMMER and we get to be YOUR hosts! Well, actually this year, our friends - The Higgins’ are hosting the trip. But we are going!

It’s the Friends Family and more Friends annual Camping, Fishing, Hiking, Swimming, Campfiring, S’moring, Eating, Eating, Eating.... EVENT

Every year we reserve Hoover Group Camp at Detroit Lake.

It holds up to 75 people. There is a common area for all of us to gather in for meals (though all the food is BYO, yet plenty of people share around - especially when we catch the fish and crawfish, or for breakfast… seems everyone LOVES a good camping breakfast… oh and the campfire hotdogs… oh, and the s’mores, oh, and the wine… etc.), and games (bring your favorite games!!!)

Anyway, the point is, there is PLENTY of room. The cost is $15-$20 per tent or trailer per night (Depending on how many people go)

Wild Canyon Games

If you are looking for a summer activity that would get you moving while helping a good cause, you may want to check out an event called Wild Canyon Games. Wild Canyon Games is an adventure race that takes place on June 4-6 in Antelope, Oregon. Funds raised are used to help veterans and local high schools. Free Medical/Dental Clinic

Hello Friends,

If you are interested in getting involved with a free medical and dental clinic that will be held in Downtown Portland in January, there is an informational meeting at the Portland City Hall (in the Rose Room) at 9:30 on January 19th. The original letter from the organization (Compassion Connect) is attached below:

Hello Friends,
I wanted to get a save the date email out to you all. We will have a meeting at 9:30AM Jan 19th at Portland City Hall (Rose Room)
This is part of the quarterly meetings to coordinate resources, contacts, etc. This meeting will be critical to the 2010 calendar dates so that we can make sure nobody is planning events on the same dates in order to optimize the limited resources.

This meeting is also for any neighborhood church leaders who are interested in getting the ball rolling for a clinic event in their neighborhood.

Please come with dates set for 2010 and reports of how team building is going, also if there are any resource/contact needs. If you can not make it please send me an email with your date and pertinent information. Below are the confirmed groups who I know are currently building teams and working towards an event.

Call + Response is a rock-umentary that draws musicians to a cause: to end slavery and human trafficking. It’s showing at the Mission Theater, Oct. 8, 2009 at 7:15. Admission is FREE, but donations are gladly accepted. International Justice Mission and Not For Sale Oregon are co-sponsoring.

Notes of Hope Concert to Benefit the OHSU Adolescent and Young Adult Cancer Program 11/30/2008 7PM

I’m really excited about this concert, held at Clackamas High School Auditorium. Not only is it for a fantastic cause, but also will be a great program. It will feature musicians from around town including John Ross, Justin Kagan on cello (a member of the Oregon Symphony), Michael Liu (pianist for the Vancouver Symphony), and Ken Bookstein (a radiologist. . . but formerly a Juilliard-trained concert pianist). I am tagging along as well. The music will range from very classical to not at all. . . it should be a great evening! Hope you can come.

John Ross and I will be playing music at Vicinato’s Wine Bar this Friday night from 8-10 PM (Located on NE Fremont and 46th AVE). It is a great venue and John promises not to be deathly ill. Hope to see you there!
