Essay Discussion, “The Case for Reparations”

  • Ecotrust 721 Northwest 9th Avenue Portland, OR, 97209 United States (map)

In honor of black history month, we'll be discussing The Case for Reparations, a 70-page essay by Ta-Nehisi Coates (originally published by The Atlantic, June 2014 and available for free on their website). This essay presents the history of institutional racism in the US—important layers that inform our collective past and present as a nation and community. Some people grew up with this knowledge firsthand, but many of us didn't... yet we should all know and wrestle with it. We're meeting in the Ecotrust atrium during the first service in hopes that parents can join us too. Questions? Contact Abby Coppock.
